Compost Giveaway Day Festivals and Events

Stouffville residents are invited to pick-up free garden compost for lawn, garden and plants! This nutrient-rich compost is the product of all of yard waste collected from spring to fall each year.

Reminders:
Free for Whitchurch-Stouffville residents only. No commercial use.
Bring your own shovels and containers. Residents are responsible for shoveling their own compost.
Limit per household – 4 bags or containers. (approx. 40 litres each). Trailers are not permitted.
First come, first served basis. While quantities last.

Exhibit Begins - Standing in the Doorway: Lived Histories and Experiences of the Chinese Community Festivals and Events

In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Chinese Exclusion Act (1923), this exhibition tells the story of resistance, resilience, and the many accomplishments of York Region's residents of Chinese descent.

Open at the Whitchurch-Stouffville Museum, May 18 - July 27.

Visit Wednesday – Saturday, 10am – 4pm.   Free Admission.

Drop in at your local Museum to Celebrate International Museum Day!  Fun for all ages, this afternoon will introduce you to what the WS Museum has to offer.

Aspen Parkette Open House Public Information Centres

6:30 PM| 19 Civic Ave

Aspen Crescent Parkette will be revitalized this year. The 4,950 m2 (0.5 ha) parkette is located at 41 Penndutch Circle, near the intersection of Forsyth Farm Drive and Tenth Line. The park revitalization is proposed to include several features, including a playground, outdoor seating, open space, and pathways. A hired consultant has developed a concept as part of the project's design phase. The Town has notified the community to join the open house to view the proposed park design.

A public open house will be held for residents later this month to learn more about the project and view the presented draft concept plan. The open house takes place on May 22nd, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. at Nineteen on the Park (19 Civic Avenue).

Curbside Giveaway Day Festivals and Events

 2024 Curbside Giveaway Days: May 25, June 29, July 27, August 24, September 28

Time to declutter! Stouffville residents are invited to place unwanted items marked ‘FREE’ at the curb for others to take and enjoy!

Place re-usable household items at the curb in front of your home at 7 am on the above date clearly marked with a “FREE” sign.
Use your discretion when deciding whether or not to put items out to the curb. Giveaway items should still be in good condition for re-use or able to be repaired. Keep items you do not want to give away close to your house, or inside to avoid confusion.
Please keep sidewalks and hydrants clear.
Unclaimed items must be removed from the curb by 5 pm. Items left at the curb can result in a By-Law violation.
Consider donating unclaimed items to charitable organizations instead of placing out for waste collection.
Please maintain social distancing and practice safety measures such as sanitizing hands after touching items and cleaning items before using.
Please respect private property and do not walk on people’s lawns or gardens.
Do not block traffic and driveways or park illegally.
Only take items that are marked ‘free’.
