June is Recreation and Parks Month (J.R.P.M.), is an annual community mobilization movement that takes place in parks, schools, recreation centres and neighbourhoods all across Ontario. By celebrating J.R.P.M., the Town of Stouffville aims to promote healthy and active living for all residents and increase awareness of the value and important benefits that recreation and parks provide to individuals, families and communities.

Join us on Monday, June 5 at 7 pm at the Ballantrae Community Centre to discover an exciting addition to Ballantrae: the upcoming Multi-Sport Complex set to open later this year! This informational session will allow you to engage with our knowledgeable staff and have all your questions answered about this state-of-the-art indoor recreational sport dome.
The Multi-Sport Complex aims to become a vibrant hub for sports enthusiasts and organizations in the area, providing an extensive range of programming. The facility comprises two impressive domes and a clubhouse. The first dome spans an impressive 125,000 sq. ft., equipped with field lining to accommodate multi-sport use, catering to both training and competitive activities. The second dome spans 50,000 sq. ft. and is dedicated to a variety of court sports.
Connecting these remarkable structures is the 7,600 sq. ft. auxiliary clubhouse, housing essential amenities such as a reception area, boardroom, and offices. The complex is designed to foster community engagement and promote physical activity by offering diverse sports activities for all residents.

Today is National Day of Remembrance for Victims of Terrorism.
This day is recognized every year on June 23 in Canada to mark the anniversary of the bombing of Air India Flight 182 which killed 329 innocent people, 280 being Canadians.
Flags at Town facilities are being flown at half-mast today to honour the victims of the bombing, as well as other acts of terrorist violence that have taken lives of Canadians.

Formerly Food Truck Frenzy, Music in the Park is a free event which celebrates summer with live musical performances on stage in Memorial Park along with great food! This year’s event will be headlined by Juno-Nominated Singer/Songwriter Aysanabee and will also spotlight music from a Steel Pan Trio. Music in the Park will also feature a food truck alley with a variety of food options so you can enjoy dinner and a show!

Time to declutter! Stouffville residents are invited to place unwanted items marked ‘FREE’ at the curb for others to take and enjoy!
2023 Curbside Giveaway Days: May 27, June 24, July 29, August 26, September 23
Place re-usable household items at the curb in front of your home at 7 am on the above date clearly marked with a “FREE” sign.
Use your discretion when deciding whether or not to put items out to the curb. Giveaway items should still be in good condition for re-use or able to be repaired. Keep items you do not want to give away close to your house, or inside to avoid confusion.
Please keep sidewalks and hydrants clear.
Unclaimed items must be removed from the curb by 5 pm. Items left at the curb can result in a By-Law violation.
Consider donating unclaimed items to charitable organizations instead of placing out for waste collection.
Please maintain social distancing and practice safety measures such as sanitizing hands after touching items and cleaning items before using.
Please respect private property and do not walk on people’s lawns or gardens.
Do not block traffic and driveways or park illegally.
Only take items that are marked ‘free’.
